Not only will the new LINK light rail connect Seattle residents to each other across the city, it will also forge cultural connections for its riders around the world. Through the “One-percent for Art” initiative, a “Culture Conversation” will engage riders all along the new rail line.

Norie Sato, lead artist and curator for the Martin Luther King Jr. Way Corridor, developed the theme “Culture Conversations” as the connecting thread among the artworks. She challenged local artists to use their imagination, creativity, and wit as inspiration for depicting the cultural interactions within Seattle’s neighborhood of nations. The result will be a collection of works as diverse and vibrant as the neighborhood itself.
