SEED OF LIFE DAYCARE RELOCATION
Erica and Lashon Watson, owners of the Seed of Life Daycare feared
light rail construction might close their doors for good. However,
they were able to relocate and purchase their new site on Rainier
Avenue South with the assistance of a number of public and private
partners including City of Seattle, Sound Transit, Wells Fargo,
Evergreen Community Development Association and Community Capital
Development.
In their new location, the Watson’s are able to double the number
of children they serve. Seed of Life is the first African American
owned child care center in the state to receive National Association
for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation, representing
the highest quality childcare. The daycare currently provides child
care services to 40 children and their child care professionals
speak English, Spanish and Somali.
