WALKING TO THE CITY BEAT
In other Seattle neighborhoods you can find art walks, garden walks and home tours. In Columbia City — an area that has always marched to the beat of a different drummer — there is the completely one-of-a-kind BeatWalk.
For nearly ten years, BeatWalk has been making music — and headlines — in Columbia City. A veritable musical feast for the soul, it delivers the most diverse and unique music of any single community event in Seattle.
As music lovers stroll the sidewalks, stopping to window shop or chat with friends, the intoxicating sounds of jazz, samba, folk, African, blues and soul fill the air and act as a siren’s call, luring people in. Once inside, the toe tapping and dancing begin.
BeatWalk is held the first Friday of each month at a variety of venues in the heart of Columbia City, just blocks from Rainier Vista. It is an event the whole family can enjoy. A hand stamp and $5 cover charge is all you need to immerse yourself in this truly original, ultra-local and multi-cultural music experience.
